International Space Station

Out of this world views from the International Space Station, watching Earth from Space.

The International Space Station (ISS) is a spacecraft that orbits Earth at an altitude of about 250 miles (400 kilometers). It is a collaborative effort between a number of countries, including the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, and European Space Agency member states.

The ISS serves as a research laboratory where scientists can conduct experiments in a range of fields, including biology, physics, and astronomy. The ISS has been continuously occupied by humans since 2000, and typically has a crew of six people from various countries. The station is about the size of a football field and consists of several pressurized modules where the crew lives and works. It is powered by solar panels and receives regular resupply missions to bring food, equipment, and other supplies.
